Quincy, MA July 3, 2025 Marsha Roos of Quincy is proud to announce her candidacy for the Quincy School Committee. Marsha is a dedicated guidance counselor with approximately thirty years of experience in public education including over twenty years in the Braintree Public Schools.  Marsha’s experience has enabled her to develop a comprehensive understanding of school operations and the tools required for students, families and educators to succeed.

“As a guidance counselor, I have had the privilege of assisting thousands of students and families in navigating the education system,” said Roos. “I am a witness to what is working in our schools and to where improvements can be made.  I would like to bring my experience and perspective to the Quincy School Committee.”

Roos emphasizes the importance of having education professionals on the School Committee. “It is essential that there are members who have knowledge of the inner workings of our schools in order to realize the daily challenges that teachers, counselors, support staff and administrators endure.  I also recognize that our students and their families face opportunities as well as challenges.  I want to help shape decisions that genuinely support our students and staff.”

Marsha and her husband have been Quincy residents for over thirty years. Their three children all attended Quincy Public Schools. “Our family has benefited from the strong vocational programs and opportunities like Dual Enrollment that are offered in Quincy schools,” said Roos. “The experiences of my children and my years of community involvement have allowed me to get to know and respect many of the dedicated educators in our schools.”

Roos is an active and lifelong community volunteer.  She has served as a Building Representative for the Braintree Education Association.  She is an active member of St. Ann’s Church in Quincy.  She has served as a board member for Manet Community Health Center and participated in the Ladies Lodge - Sons of Italy, Braintree.  Marsha and her husband co-founded Wollaston T-Ball and managed it for over fifteen years.  Marsha plays ice hockey with the Quincy Clams and has volunteered with Girl Scouts and Quincy Youth Soccer.

“I have always believed in contributing,” Roos said. “Running for School Committee is another way I can serve my community and support our students, families and educators.”

A campaign kick-off event is scheduled on Wednesday July, 16, 2025, at The Common Market, Quincy, MA.  Roos is encouraged by the outpouring of support she has received.  Roos said, “People recognize the value of having a School Committee member who has actual experience in our schools. I am running to be a strong voice for students, families and educators.”
